I love this! You never know what one act might lead to. I'm blessed to still be in touch with some of the people I worked with, even though I left in 1998. It sure is a challenge to write, and when we have so many distractions pulling us away from our desks, it's nice to have platforms like this as an outlet. I look forward to reading more of your writing.
I miss newspapers.
I started my writing career in Ohio, quite unintentionally.
I found myself frustrated one day, sitting in gridlocked traffic in our small town.
I vented about it to the local weekly.
They not only published my essay — they offered me a job as the society columnist.
From there it was upward and onward, from 1986 to 2020.
Fortunately, Facebook and Substack have been great outlets when I’m in the mood.
But I need more motivation and discipline!
I enjoyed reading about your journey — and can identify with devouring the paper in the morning! Boston Herald American, cover to cover!
(Though I preferred the Globe!)
